lovable

How lovable is Angus and Julia Stone's website. The framed photos, the books, the postcard, the vintage telephone, the gramophone, the background. love, love, love.

just a peek

Ok I couldn't resist,
a little peek at the trailer for Midnight in Paris.

my next dinner party - 1920's

Whimsical brilliance. Midnight in Paris is a must see. The film is so inspiring, all I will say is I'm currently planning my 1920's dinner party and all because of this film.

kate spade quotes

"occasionally she dreams of italy. she dreams of cheese shops, persnikety fiats and very fine leather goods."
Kate Spade
"she thought of her aunt often... patent boots, cherry red lipstick, and forever mischievous."
Kate Spade

When I bought my clutch from Kate Spade, there was a little card on the inside with the above quote, when my Mum bought her wallet, there was a little card on the inside with the second quote. please come to australia kate spade.

another discovery

Ok, so I am in my first week of being in NYC and I need a diary, Mum and I are in anthropologie and I see this utterly charming book called a-once-courageous-heart. I'm thinking this is just perfect for my diary, I purchase. I'm reading through this wholehearted book wondering who the delightful person is whom wrote it, on discovery I find that this talented spirit Kylie Johnson is Australian, wow all the way to NYC to discover this. Fabulous. The book is a must, please go and purchase it now, Kylie's way with words is awe-inspiring. My story continues, I get home and get back into my blog following routine, which is how I discover Pia Jane Bijkerk has graced Brisbane. I then read that it is Kylie Johnson whom organised Pia's event and then hours are lost reading Kylie's blog - instinct and grace and all those bound. 'My heart is wandering' through the endless talent I keep discovering, sometimes I just get lost amongst it all, you can't help it.

my heart wanders to brisbane

I've been following the talented Pia Jane Bijkerk since the end of 2008. Obviously not close enough, as since I have been home I have discovered via her blog that some delightful Brisbane girls (I'll fill you in on all of these talents later) organised a book launch for her in Milton. I have to say I am super upset by the fact that I missed this event (I'm not complaining, I know I was os), but wow when you have been admiring someone and you realise they were in your hometown and you missed them, it is a little upsetting. Enough of my complaining, in discovering this I also discovered another extremely talented Brisbane based photographer - Natalie McComas who photographed the event. I bought Pia's gorgeous book the other day and can't wait for the postman to deliver it.

little miss print design

The lovely Anna from Miss Print Design featured our wedding on her gorgeous blog a couple of weeks ago. Her talent is so sweet as pie.

opening ceremony

Opening Ceremony in Soho, NYC was another "it's my last day omg I have to fit every little last thing in". Renee and I tried on a few gorgeous pieces, I bought a pair of little Repetto black ballet flats and for a dear friend a set of Paperself eyelashes. Opening Ceremony brings together emerging american talent, with both established designers and artists from abroad. They also have a store within the Ace Hotel, which I posted about a couple of weeks ago.

rose 31

Remember my post about finding Le Labo fragrances? Well I sought and I found on my very last day. What I found on a little street in Nolita, was a sweet smelling shop where they mix your bottle of perfume right there in front of you. They label it with your name and the date too. I bought Rose 31, delightful and the photos above show the perfumer mixing my lovely little bottle. Ahhhhh only in NYC.

crosby street hotel

The Crosby St Hotel is hidden on a little cobbled street (Crosby St) in the heart of SoHo down the bottom of Manhattan Island and only 15 minutes walk from my apartment. I only managed to explore the lobby and have brunch in the Crosby Bar, baked eggs and a delish bloody mary. But it's another boutique hotel to add to my (and yours) wish list the next time a visit to NY is on the cards.

the meatball shop

Meatballs anyway you can imagine are served up at this super popular restaurant in the Lower East Side. Just a couple of minutes from my apartment, The Meatball Shop was always busy, always open, beckoning us in. Finally I had a late lunch on a day I had to myself. Food - yum, atmosphere - buzzing, wine - italian. Highly recommended, unless you're a vego of course.

that championship season

Finally I get back to Broadway. My Mum and I went and saw that championship season casting Kiefer Sutherland, Chris Noth, Jason Patric, Brian Cox, Jim Gaffigan and a bottle of scotch. Definitely a 'boy's club' play, but brilliant. Chris Noth was powerful and had such a presence, Kiefer Sutherland also brilliant, who knew he was teeny tiny. Mum and I had centre, second row seats. In fact, pretty much every play we saw we got amazing seats, paying $79. If you're going to nyc and want to get cheap tickets, visit theater mania and search discount tickets for the show you want to see. Mum and I paid around $80 for all of our tickets and we were sitting in either the second or third row every time.

mrs. meyer's simplicity

Bars, Restaurants and Boutiques in NYC were scented with the simplicity of Mrs. Meyer's products. The products can be bought at your corner shop and any supermarket (if you live in nyc that is). Even better a candle is $9.99US. How good. Pretty please somebody bring to Australia. So simple, so cheap, so perfect.

port douglas sunshine

I'm back, I'm back with so much to tell. Firstly, I was lucky enough to fly into some Port Douglas sunshine and the arms of my beautiful husband. A work conference at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas for the week and some time for me to prepare myself for the cold weather that I'd been hearing about.
OK back to NYC finds.
