new york public library

The new york public library is simply beautiful. Every little detail from the grand door at the entrance, the famous lions, the ceiling on the inside, the old wooden desks that beg you to sit and get lost in literature, the reading room (you have to click on this link). On my visit they were exhibiting - Celebrating 100 years. I stumbled upon Charles Dickens's letter opener, the final draft of George Washington's Farewell Address, the original Winnie-the-pooh and his friends, who have lived in the library since 1987, Virginia Woolf's walking stick. A dear friend suggested I go to the Mapping room, I didn't make it unfortunately, but I wish I did. Read here.

I was reading this lovely blog - mandarine d'italie - the other day and stumbled upon furniture, clothing, accessories designer Katrin Arens from Italy. How stunning is this lovely life, I want to jump in. 

grand central terminal, nyc

These photos of NYC's Grand Central Terminal certainly don't do it justice. I stood mesmerised for about 40 minutes, taking photo's, filming (will post one later), people watching in the main concourse. The ceiling is breathtaking, "apparently" based on a medievil manuscript that visualised the sky as it would look to god outside the celestial sphere, find more info about it here. The tiffany blue and gold is stunning and it would compel anyone to catch a train on a regular basis.

chelsea markets

Back to NYC, about time hey. 

The Chelsea Markets located in Chelsea on the edge of the Meatpacking District is this heavenly escape from the hustle and bustle of new york city. The markets are in the converted National Biscuit Company Building, known for vanilla wafers and oreo cookies. The shops inside are brilliant, 9th Street Espresso (best flat white I could find), The Lobster Place, Anthropologie,  Bowery Kitchen Supply, Fat Witch Bakery to name a few. 

a special baby shower afternoon

One of our dear friends is having a baby very, very soon. Let's just say this little girl that is about to enter this wonderful world is going to have "A LOT" of aunties.  Her family put on a gorgeous baby shower one Sunday afternoon. Lot's of girls, lot's of giggling, lot's of delightful pressies for the Mum to be.
