mmmmm chocolate
Della Mano in Teneriffe is my new found favourite. I'm absolutely in love with their spiced hot chocolate. It's morning bliss. All hot chocolatey with a twist, the secret spices are completely decadent. Everything is made in their on-site kitchen. Doesn't get better than that.

beachwood cafe
The delicious Beachwood cafe in Yamba is a locals little secret. So if you want the best coffee and to taste the beautiful local organic produce this is the place to visit. All the flavours have a heavy turkish influence and visiting this place really is a treat. Sevtap, who is the passion behind this experience, loves nothing more than "eating out of the earth". Of course, I bought the cookbook (and she signed it for me too!), I adore every page. My favourite being the braised broad beans with garlic yoghurt on turkish bread. Some images below from the Beachwood Cafe website to get you even more excited about a weekend to Yamba.

a hidden slice of paradise
A couple of weekends ago we went down to Woodford Island to visit the hubby's cousin and her lovely little family. Wow what a beautiful weekend we had. I've been to Yamba twice before, but Woodford island is just a pleasure to wander around. So many hidden treasures and the little town Maclean is a delight. My hubby's cousin and her family built their house with their bare hands. Incredible. The details, the thought and the hard work that has gone into their little castle on the hill is so heartfelt. Their style is eclectic, warm and charming. A real home, a home you don't want to leave and if you do you always want to come back to.
I have to say I spent the weekend being very envious of their lifestyle, the wholeness, the simplicity, the plan to be self sufficient and live off the land. Maclean is this sweet town, just a couple of km from their house and full of Scottish heritage. I had no idea how charming it was. The street names are in scottish gaelic and the power poles are painted in scottish family name tartan patterns. I bet you're itching to get there as you read.
And Yamba, certainly a more well known seaside town, is just 40km or so away. More to come.

who wants to be florence
All my dearest and I went to Florence and the Machine last night. Our love expands, it finished too quickly, even when sober and freezing and surrounded by thousands.

reading, loving, watching, devouring the great gatsby
Ever since seeing Midnight in Paris with my Mum in New York last year, remember my post here, i've been even more totally obsessed with the wonderful era of the 20's. Little did I know they were re-making the film - The Great Gatsby - novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. So to my joy, this theme is everywhere. I've read the book and I've just watched the movie again and obsessing even more over it all. Thankfully I now own Midnight in Paris, so I can watch it as well again and over and over. Ahhh Nostalgia. A dear friend is even having a Gatsby party, how bliss. Cannot wait.

port douglas treasure
The Tin Shed in Port Douglas has to be the finest RSL i've ever been to. Set on the ocean near the Marina, with a view over the water toward the rugged mountains. As the sun sets, the relaxing nature of Port Douglas over comes you. With drink in hand, surrounded by fellow wedding goers in town to celebrate a very special occasion, its easy to see why our dear friends chose this heavenly destination. Till next time Port Douglas, we'll miss you.

Loving the prettiness of the Zimmermann Winter Collection. Vintage lace is always so romantic. There certainly needs to be more of it in my wardrobe. Beautiful.

a port douglas wedding
We have a wedding up in Port Douglas this weekend. Oh my goodness cannot wait - sunshine, swimming, green/blue water, good friends and an incredible reason to celebrate. It's a long weekend too, so even better. I love weekends away with friends and even more so I love weekends away for weddings.
Aren't weddings the best? So relaxed, everyone's in incredible spirits celebrating the lucky couple who found each other to share the rest of their lives with. Let alone all the celebrations that go along with a destination wedding, the night before, the day after celebration, it's the BEST. Thanks Myles and Tani.
