petersham nurseries
I discovered these images when being mesmerised by keiko oikawa's portfolio. They are images taken at petersham nurseries in Richmond, Surrey. My mum would be in love with this place. I got totally lost on their gorgeous website. They have the most incredible grounds and also have a cafe and playhouse (seriously fun) and hold functions. I wish we could visit this weekend. Damn that 26 hour flight.

the rock shop
the rock shop - cheap drinks, staff with attitude, great acoustics, a brooklyn favourite for its locals and bands wanting to get a start. Mia and I went to see Dave Dondero, a must on Mia's nyc list and we sipped our beers watching justice of the unicorns before hand, who are pretty random btw. This is one of those places where you hang with the band at the bar, no barriers, cool Brooklyn huh.

the gramercy hotel
Brunch on the terrace at the gramercy hotel with Mia. Visit to nyc not complete without brunch on the terrace, drinks at the bar or checking into the hotel in the lobby.

the brooklyn botanical gardens
The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens are just magic. Mum and I visited on our trip mostly to see the Rose Garden, which unfortunately was only just starting to bloom, so missed it in all its glory. We did however stumble upon the Bluebell Wood, captured in the top photo. It was just enchanting.

the standard
The Standard Hotel NYC is another of New York's infamous hotels. Peering over Chelsea, in the meatpacking district, straddling the high line and looking over the river it stands 18 stories high and has a reputation much higher. Remarkable design, views and restaurants that are the best of the best, apparently (my friend tells me) you can sit on the toilets of one of the restaurants and look over the river and downtown Manhattan, how cool.

the high line
The Chelsea High Line is an elevated public park, built on a 1930's infrastructure project to build freight above the city. The park runs from Gansevoort st to West 30th along the river and through chelsea. It's an oasis above the city. It's a must if you ever visit NYC.
